Music Awards
Currently Northern Ireland Wing Air Cadets are starting up a Wing Band, this is for all ages and all levels. Any one is welcome. Currently, we have one cadet who participates in the Wing Band.
Within the RAF Air Cadets we offer awards for musical abilities. As you go up the grades or skill levels, whether in school or privately we offer different levels of awards.

Blue Badge
The blue badge is the first step on the ladder for the music awards in the RAFAC. There are 3 different ways to achieve the blue musicians badge:

- Pass a recognised music board examination at grade 3 (practical)
- Provide an expert witness testimony (e.g. School music teacher) to state that an instrument can be played to grade 3 standard.
- Assessment by a competent person to state that music ability has been demonstrated.

Bronze Badge
The bronze badge is the second step on the ladder for the music awards in the RAFAC. For this the cadet does not have to be in a band to achieve this award. There are 3 ways to achieve the bronze musicians badge:
In order to achieve the bronze badge the cadet must also have gained or been eligible for the blue badge.

- Pass a recognised music board examination at grade 5 (practical)
- By performing in a representative capacity at Wing Level.
- By performing, on a regular basis, in a band or other ensemble graded as 'bronze'
In order to achieve the bronze badge the cadet must also have gained or been eligible for the blue badge.

Silver Badge
The silver badge is the third step on the ladder for the music awards in the RAFAC. For this the cadet does not have to be in a band to achieve this award. There are 3 ways to achieve the bronze musicians badge:

- By performing in a representative capacity at Regional Level.
- By performing, on a regular basis, in a band or other ensemble graded as 'silver'
In order to achieve the silver badge the cadet must also have gained or been eligible for the bronze badge.

Gold badge
The gold badge is the final step on the ladder for the music awards in the RAFAC.
Gold badges may only be awarded by the Principle Director of Music (RAF Air Cadets), or the Director of Music of the appropriate national ensemble.
In order to achieve the gold badge the cadet must also have gained or been eligible for the silver badge.
