No. 4 Service Dress
The order of dress is the same as for No 1 SD except that a plain white shirt with normal collar and black bow tie replaces the wedgwood blue shirt.
Medals are not worn, unless royalty is present.
This uniform is worn by both staff and cadets. It is classed as optional mess dress, and is to be worn when the individual does not possess No. 5 Dress.

This uniform is only to be worn by staff, and is only worn at formal evening functions, such as dining in nights and guest nights. This uniform consists of:

- No. 1 SD hat (appropriate to rank)
- No. 5 Jacket
- No. 5 SD Trousers or Skirt
- Marcella shirt, with gold cufflinks (SNCO and WO have the option for a plain white dress shirt)
- Officers are to wear No. 5B SD waistcoat
- cummerbund can be worn, when no official guests are present.
- Plain black, double ended bow tie
- Black socks or barely black tights
- Black patent evening shoes, without toe caps or black patent evening or court shoes
- Females can carry a black patent evening or clutch bag
- Females can wear small plain spherical, pearl or gold earrings.
